Making the decision to begin counselling can be difficult, however it can be one of the best decisions you have made.
My name is Michelle and I am a BACP registered counsellor.
I am fully qualified counsellor and I have spent over 5 years training to gain the skills, techniques and qualifications to enable me to practice as a counsellor.
I work with young people and adults 18 years and over on a short-term and long- term basis.
I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I combine different therapeutic approaches to fit the individual needs of my clients. I believe that there is no single approach to treat each client in all situations, so my approach is tailored to suit each client, consisting mainly of Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy, at times I may incorporate creative methods for clients who find it hard to express their emotions through talking therapy alone.
As well as working in private practice I have also gained wide experience counselling adults and young people in a Counselling Agency and an institution for educating students.
I have a personal interest and understanding in anxiety disorders and low self-esteem. I believe that our beliefs and our thought patterns have a great impact on our experiences and emotional health, however by adapting a person’s belief system and learning new ways of thinking can promote positive change. I work with clients to understand their thoughts and beliefs and what effect it is having on their lives and help each individual to move forward.
I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :
The list above is just a few of the areas I work with, if your particular issue is not listed above please contact me and we can decide together if I am a suitable counsellor for you.
